REST Mission

The mission of REST (Real Escape from the Sex Trade) is to provide pathways to freedom, safety, and hope for victims of sex trafficking and people involved in the sex trade.

REST strongly believes in protecting the integrity and privacy of personal information gathered from our supporters and others through all our communication channels, as well as from visitors to our website.

Personal Information

“Personal Information” is information that identifies you personally, such as your name, address, telephone number, and email address. We collect and store the personally identifiable information that you have provided us via one of the forms or email addresses identified on our website or when you otherwise contact us in person, by phone, or email. We also may collect your name, address, email address, telephone number, and payment information when you make a contribution, either through one of the donation platforms on our website (currently Classy and Auctria), at a special event, over the phone, or by mailing in a check. The above list provides a sample of personal information that may be collected by REST.  From time to time, we may collect personal information from you in ways not described above. 

Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

  • We use information you provide about yourself to send you communications, such as thank you letters and emails, provide REST updates, notify you of upcoming events, or make you aware of donation opportunities. Your phone number is used to contact you if we need to verify payment information and occasionally to thank you for your contribution or make you aware of a donation opportunity.

  • We will collect payment information, billing address and other information necessary to process a donation or event registration. When you submit payment information to us, you consent to providing your payment information to us and to our service providers processing the donation to the extent required to process the donation. When we collect payment information directly from you, we transmit this payment information directly to our service provider. 

  • We may use service providers to help operate and improve our website, assist us with event registration or donation collection, to provide analytics, or provide tools we embed into our website. We may share information we have about you with such service providers, solely for their use to provide services to us. Please be aware that such service providers have their own privacy policies, which govern their use of your information collected directly from you.   • Other than as provided in this privacy policy, REST does not sell, transfer or disclose personal information to third parties without prior consent. We never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses. We will not send you mailings on behalf of other organizations.

  • REST reserves the right to use or disclose any information as needed to satisfy any law, regulation or legal request, to protect the integrity of the site, to fulfill your requests, or to cooperate in any law enforcement investigation or an investigation on a matter of public safety.

If you decide to participate in our website’s features, such as online fundraising pages, by posting content, you understand that this information is publicly available. 

Our Commitment to Data Security

Our company’s policies and procedures ensure that only authorized people are able to access your data. We perform thorough background checks for all new staff and exercise the principle of “least privilege” when it comes to staff access to donor data.

You are in control of any Personal Information you provide to us. If at any time, you would like to correct the Personal Information we have about you or change your preferences for contact from us you can let us know by contacting us at the email or postal address listed below. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections.
